The evolving journey of parenting can be the most challenging and equally rewarding experience. As a therapist, specializing in child and adolescent mental health, I find it most fulfilling to offer support during the more challenging times for children and their families. I have been providing psychotherapy to youth and families in the community, residential, and hospital settings for more than 15 years. I have a degree in Psychology from Wilfrid Laurier University, a degree in Social Work from York University, and a Masters in Social Work from the University of Toronto.

Children are constantly changing and growing. Throughout this journey of growth, children often require support to encourage and assist them to thrive in their relationships. It is important for children to develop strategies to strengthen emotional regulation, social skills, life skills, anxiety reduction, concentration and focus, or the processing of traumatic events.

To accommodate the unique and individual needs of my clients, I have adopted an integrative, evidence-based approach to therapy. I practice from a client and family centered lens, utilizing both trauma and attachment informed care. I am trained in a multitude of modalities that include: Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Self-Regulation (the Shanker method), Narrative Therapy, Behavioural Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy.

During the therapeutic process for children, it is imperative for parents/guardians to be involved. Understanding your child’s behaviour changes your response to them. Therefore, when we recognize why a behaviour occurs, we can respond in a manner that promotes optimal social emotional development, which in turn fosters connection.

When little people are overwhelmed by big emotions, it’s our job to share our calm, not join their chaos.
